Missak Terzian
The Lebanese-American artist Missak Tarzian was born in Lebanon in 1949 to Armenian parents. In 1968, Terzian has graduated from Guvder Art School in Beirut, and pursued his second degree in 1971 from the London College of printing.
Missak believes that art is universal, as well as freedom of expression. Although he doesn’t consider himself belonging to any artistic category, he is considered a contemporary semi-abstract figurative expressionist artist, who is known for his joyful-informal art moves. His search for a continual and hopeful existentialism triggers his central theme in his paintings.
Missak’s major art exhibition was held for the first time in 1984, followed by featuring in 133 other exhibitions around the world. His paintings are part of many collections in Europe, United States, the Middle East, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and the Republic of China; namely the Saudi Royal family and prominent Lebanese political figures. His works are on permanent display throughout Lebanon, at the headquarters of Banque du Liban, the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia Museum, Haigazian University, the Bank Audi Head Office, the Sursock Museum, the Museum of Bzommar, and at the Bank of Sharjah Head Office.
